THE PLEDGE

THE MOVEMENT
It’s intuitive. But it’s also science. Numerous studies have demonstrated that human health improves when we are exposed to nature.
Did you know?
- Studies show that those who live in the most natural and green environments have about a 12% lower mortality rate.
- 30 minutes of nature exposure per week reduces depression by up to 7 percent and can reduce high blood pressure by up to 9 percent.
Yet, Americans spend 95% of their lives indoors. With your help, we’re going to change that.
With the partnership of some of the most trusted American brands and leading healthcare experts and practitioners, we are building a movement that encourages people – like you, your friends, and your family – to go outside, reconnect with the great outdoors, and improve your overall well-being.

OUTSIDE I CAN
GROUND MYSELF
“As a nurse, my days can feel endless at times and it can be physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting. I go outside to reconnect with myself and be able to step back and appreciate the beauty that this earth has to offer. I have experienced new life and death in my career and being outside makes me not take life for granted, embrace nature’s wonders, and to count my blessings every single day. #OutsideICan”

OUTSIDE I CAN
TRANSFORM MY LIFE
“Before, I definitely had a lot of negative self-talk. I was in a completely different place in my life. I didn’t love myself. I didn’t believe in myself. To be honest with you, through hiking and climbing peaks, I was able to tap into that inner negative dialogue and really turn it around into one of reassurance and positivity. That was just completely life-transforming.”

NOURISH MY SOUL
“I am my best self when I have opportunities to explore outdoors. The trees, the mountains are my loves; all waters and oceans all nourish my soul. My understanding of self and identity has been shaped through those initial experiences and I continue to be enriched by them long after.”
